Melody Jordan would rather pack her bags and head back to Virginia than marry a man she doesn't love. But her father is dead and she can't leave her stepmother and two young half-brothers to fend for themselves while rustlers steal their cattle and the nearest rancher tries to steal their ranch. excellent! Melody & Chet. This is another wonderful story by tale spinner Leigh Greenwood. It has everything, adventure, developing romance, vivid characters, suspense. It's also a family saga demonstrating trust, love and family. Somebody did a great job of editing. I can't wait to read the next book in the Cowboy series. Chet is a gunfighter & Melody needs help at her ranch with cattle rustlers and a dangerous neighbor, just when Chet comes into her life.Product details

Love the series!!!!!! Just one of many of Leigh Greenwoods novels that has it all suspense love and honor great read!
Leigh Greenwood's books are always good reading. They may be western romances, but there is always an interesting twist to the plot.
Said the book was in good condition, but it wasn't, more like fair condition, the cover was riddled with wear, as was the spine... but despite the condition of the book, it was good, lots of typos though, not the best from Leigh Greenwood, but still good...
Is more of a historical western than romance, that's what I enjoy. This book would be fine for any male or female. The romance parts are not over done or revolting. Some books I have read that were listed as western romance are tasteless and border on porn (at least from my personal views). The Cowboy series brings back the old west in similar fashion as Louis L'amour, but has some romance.
It would be good to start with Jake, in the Cowboy series, but not required. I didn't start with Jake but that is the beginning of the series. Chet is my favorite, and then probably Jake and any of the other books that bring Chet into the story.
This is the first book I read of this author because the story line seemed interesting. I should have started with Greenwood's earlier books because this one is terrible. It reads as if the author dictated the story and the result was never edited. Way too much exposition, and he told me everything as if I had the brain of a pea. It's so much better if a writer takes me where he wants me to go instead of just telling me what's going on.
On the advice of a friend of mine, I tried this author again with the first book in his "Seven Brides" series called Rose. It was infinitely better, tighter written, and quite enjoyable. Greenwood still told me more things than he needed to, but I forgave him for that a little bit. It just seems to be his way to dumb things down occasionally.
Don't waste your money on this book, buy the brides' books instead.
My dad loved this book. I purchased it with others as a gift for him to read as he loved the stories and era that they were all written in. He recently passed away, but before he passed, he often told me how excited he was about these stories and the gift I had given him. Thank you Leigh Greenwood for making my father's last days memorable to him and to me.
This story had me by the first paragraph. I have read it before and will most likely read it again. Chet became a gun for hire not out of love for killing but out of love to keep his brother Luke who was a willing gun for hire safe. He meets Melody a recent new resident of Texas having left Virginia to join her newly widowed stepmother and her two step brothers. The tale is exciting to the last page, we have rustling cattle, shooting, kidnapping and haystack and barn burning and let us not forget killing. We also have love, doubt and other challenges. Mr. Greenwood does not disappoint.
