Reader thoughts: Very fun. Light and simple, but I'd rather have fun over sophistication if I have to choose between the two.I quite love the other world, Eirentheos. I like that the magic is very basic, and I liked that some questions went unanswered for the next books (that valoris stuff, and Tolliver). I like the mistiming of the worlds and all the implications from it. For instance, do the characters age differently if they spend time in another world?
I love the emphasis on the importance and joys of children. Quinn's siblings, Zander's siblings, Will's siblings, the village kids. All were delightful, and Quinn and the others all treated the kids with fun and care.
Writer thoughts: There were a few pieces when the narrative seemed a bit off-timed, when a description was given several paragraphs before or after the best place for it. Oftentimes a scene jump would start with dialogue and I wouldn't know for half a page where/when the characters were. There was also a tad bit of pov jumping, when we'd be in a side character's pov for just a sentence or two and then back. It was jarring, but only happened three or four times.
UPDATE: I have read several more of this series and love them!

This is a good story, but not great literature.
The series has definite strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
* It leaves the reader wanting more, so the books are hard to put down. (I'm currently finishing the 3rd book in the series.)
* This is a nice story for YA. In our world today, we need more nice stories like this.
* Unique story-line.
* Writer kept it clean and appropriate for YA readers.
* Characters have integrity.
Weaknesses
* Grammatical errors. Some punctuation errors. Who missed them in the writing/editing process? (This makes me crazy.) ...NOT a good example for young readers.
* Overuse of certain phrases (almost Ad nauseam) it detracted from the story-line at times.
*Characters were inconsistent One moment Quinn was "freaking out" and the next minute she was taking control and on an equal level with the King.
* Sometimes characters and events were developed too quickly.
* Dialogue lacked sophistication in the writing process.
Overall, this is a good story, which is why I gave it 3 stars. I think this writer has potential. I would recommend reading Mary Stewart's "The Crystal Cave" and "The Hollow Hills" and learn from her writing style. It's classic. Were it not for the simplistic style and grammatical errors I would have given it 4 stars. That being said, I do understand that sometimes a simple writing style can be appropriate for a struggling young reader to help keep him/her involved in a story. I don't think that was the intention of this writer.
In spite of its obvious weaknesses, I enjoyed the series. I would recommend it for a YA reader who enjoys time travel type stories, and I would feel comfortable as an adult knowing that it is a wholesome tale.
Seeds of Discovery was a good read with an interesting story. Quinn is not really your average teenager, she doesn't really hangout with people her own age instead she studies hard, have a part-time job at a library and helps her mom out a lot with her little brother and sister. Quinn is kind, smart, responsible and thoughtful and her world is about to change forever when she discovers another world.
Quinn adapts really well to this new world and the royal family has seem to taken a liking to her. The royal family is very kind and friendly and treats Quinn really nicely almost as if she is one of them. They all really love her and she loves them. I have this theory which I don't want to say what it is because I don't want to spoil anything but it's almost like the royal family knows something about Quinn, something that even Quinn herself doesn't even know. I'm sure that if you read this book you will be able to tell what I mean.
This world is a very friendly/kind one, like a real fairytale. There is a huge mystery going on and they have yet to discover who is behind it.
Seeds of Discovery was a wonderful story but it does end without really concluding, there are so many unanswered questions so I will be reading the next book in the series. I can't wait to see what happens next.
This book is great for all ages. Finally a SAFE and CLEAN read for our young people! I enjoyed it a great deal, and ended up buying every book in the series, all of which were equally good reads! I can't wait for the next book! Breeana Puttroff has a great fan site as well, and interacts with her fans through facebook. Good clean fun!
I liked this book. But it dragged a lot of the time and nothing much happened apart from Quinn finding the other world after following William. Becoming a friend of his family. And helping them solve a mystery which did not seem much like a mystery at all. A lot of unnecessary details, nothing exciting happened. But I'm still gonna read the next book cause I wanna see what happens next.
Good thing is the characters are very much lovable. I enjoyed reading about their lives. And I admit the fact that people in the other world appreciated the true meaning of family, and that children are truly a blessing did help earn this books some points from me. I'm all about family.
P.S. After finishing the fourth book which was extremely disappointing I decided not to finish the rest of the series.
